Community Studio Sessions: Open Dye Lab
A collaborative session for people interested in natural color.
Bring fiber samples, test fabrics, notebooks, and questions.

Darling Swatches,
For our September 29th lab, we are going to work with Tannin and Mordant for Cellulose Fibers.
I know this is not the most magical part of natural dyeing, but a properly prepared textile is necessary to assure good results. It’s also a wonderful time to slow down and plan before starting complex work. To make it easier, we will have matcha tea from Tokyo and a 90s playlist going.

Our space can currently accommodate 6 guests. Please RSVP so I can plan accordingly.
I will have some pre-scoured linen and cotton available for purchase.
Bring an apron and clean reusable rubber gloves (if you have them).
If you would like to work on your own pieces, please scour them before the lab.
If you need to scour your pieces during lab, you are welcomed to but you will have to do it the hard way; with a pot and a spoon.

Grey works alongside guests on current studio projects / experiments and will offer informal guidance and demonstrations throughout the session.

Unlike a formal workshop, these sessions are designed as ongoing creative practice. Bring your own materials, work at your own pace, learn through observation and conversation, and become part of a growing circle of people interested in slowing down, creating by hand, and deepening their relationship with craft.
Whether you join once or return month after month, our goal is simple: to create a welcoming space where skills are shared, creativity is nurtured, and community is built through making.
