About the Workshop

Discover the magic of natural color in this hands-on workshop led by professional textile artist Grey Lux. Using plant- and mineral-based dyes such as madder, weld, logwood, and indigo, you’ll learn how to paint, stamp, and print directly onto fabric to create one-of-a-kind designs.

No experience is needed — just curiosity and creativity. All materials are provided, including pre-prepared fabric, natural dye pastes, and a variety of tools. You’ll leave with two unique textile pieces and the knowledge to continue experimenting at home.

Duration: 4 hours
Fee: $150 (includes all materials)

Minimum Participants: (2) - Please note, if only 1 participant you will be charged the fee for 2 (300.00 total)

Maximum Participants: (10) - Spaces are limited to keep the workshop intimate and interactive!



What You’ll Learn

  • How to apply natural dyes directly onto fabric with brushes, sponges, or stamps.

  • How to layer colors and patterns for unique designs.

  • How to finish your piece so the color lasts.

By the end, you’ll leave with two decorated fabric squares you created yourself.

Materials Provided

  • Pre-scoured & mordanted cotton and/or linen squares (12” x 12”).

  • Natural dye extracts (madder = red, weld = yellow, logwood = purple, cochineal = pink/purple).

  • Tools: foam brushes, paintbrushes, stencils, wood blocks, sponges.

  • Drying/steaming setup.
